Garage door openers

So a while ago, when it started getting cold, my garage door opener started dying.  It would fail to open the door maybe 1/4 times.  My wife's van has a transmitter, so I started using hers and then shoved the other in the glove box.  But then after a few weeks, that one started dying too (again, about 1/4), so now when one fails, I just use the other one.  So far, both have not failed at the same time.
